Description

The team at Hepatitis ACT works to reduce the transmission of hepatitis through partnerships with like-minded organisations, individuals, and the community.

Hepatitis ACT is dedicated to supporting people living with hepatitis to access the services and support they need.

From the centrally located office opposite Turner shops, Hepatitis ACT operates a secondary Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) where sterile injecting equipment is distributed to people who inject drugs. Equipment includes: 4 packs, 8 packs, 25 packs, water, syringes, cotton wool, and disposal containers.

Along with the NSP, Hepatitis ACT also offers the following services: the delivery of information and education about hepatitis, training and workforce development, health promotion, harm reduction services, resource distribution, hepatitis C testing, support, advocacy and referral.

One of the key services is in-house hepatitis C testing delivered under the Point of Care Testing (POCT) Program. The minimally invasive finger prick tests return results in an hour.

Hepatitis ACT also offers GP consultations, script distribution and ongoing support to people who have tested positive for hepatitis C.
