CRS provides a three-month residential rehabilitation recovery program for people with AOD and/or gambling dependencies group program and aftercare support.
The service provides a substance-free, safe and inclusive residential program for people of all genders aged over 18 years. The program is accessible to all demographics and priority groups.
The service is staffed 24/7. People are housed in private rooms for their stay. All meals are provided by the in-house Chef, supported by participants as part of their treatment. A comprehensive suite of groups, 1-to-1 psychosocial interventions, case management and other activities takes place between 7.30am-4pm Monday to Friday. The service is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team to comprehensively meet client and program needs.
Participants can self-refer or have a referral with consent made on their behalf through family, professional agencies, GPs, prisons hospitals or court-mandated programs including DASL. Within 48 hours of receiving the referral, the client receives a brief intake assessment to screen for risks and harms, ATOD use, treatment needs and goals and program suitability. Warm referrals are made to services identified as a more appropriate treatment match.
Following intake, potential participants engage in a comprehensive assessment to determine baseline outcome measures, substance use, health, psycho-social circumstances, criminogenic needs, strengths, and risks including suicide, violence and family and domestic violence to be incorporated into treatment, care, and aftercare plans.
During the intake and assessment process, clients have regular communication with the Intake, Care Coordination team and Peer Mentors to provide pre-treatment groups, assistance maintaining motivation and harm reduction support. Once accepted, clients are supported to access the facility inclusive of transportation.
All participants have a dedicated Case Worker providing 1-to-1 psychosocial support and case management aligned to their individual recovery plan and treatment goals. Care plans are developed in collaboration with participants and informed by comprehensive assessment and case formulation to ensure treatment is individualised, relevant and effective. Using a stepped-care approach, we reduce barriers to access and help people stay engaged in treatment through changing circumstances via flexible service delivery options.
Individual and group interventions are evidence-based, person-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based in line with best practice. The TSA’s ‘Foundations’ program is comprised of three progressive phases totaling four weeks each.
‘Connect’ focuses on initiating participants into the recovery and relapse processes. Participants connect with their unique strengths, resources, values, and motivations, learn about unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours and intervention strategies.
‘Grow’ builds on the concepts of self-awareness and skills for self-management improved coping strategies. The social and cultural aspects of substance-use and recovery are explored as well as effective communication and healthy relationships for improved social connections.
‘Live’ prepares participants for sustaining ongoing recovery in the community. Skills are further developed in self-reflection, self-awareness, self-management and self-direction to support participants to build a life that is empowered, full and meaningful to them. Strengthening connections with a range of supports, interests and activities builds self-confidence and self-belief and an emerging sense of identity beyond substance use.
Relapse Prevention/management interventions are delivered individually, as part of the care planning process and in a group work context. Individual plans are developed early in the program and are regularly reviewed and updated.
